Amah Bear

I painted this piece for my mom, who passed away on Valentines Day 2017. The bear was her spirit animal, which was clear from her warm bear hugs and her hearty laugh. I added additional "symbols" that I associated with her in the background - her daily glass of wine, her love of crosswords and her longstanding fondness for Tab cola (she even had her local grocer order it especially for her each week!). I hope this piece captures some of her "mother bear" spirit and warmth.
